Geriatric Services

Individuals residing in care settings are often challenged with life altering losses. They retain needs for meaning and purpose, connection, independence and control, and want to be cared for respectfully and compassionately. As a residential therapist, I work with my clients on issues that hinder their ability to live more fully and to enjoy their lives. I train staff on approaches to address the mental health needs of their residents with special attention to behavioral approaches and minimizing the need for medication. My approaches include cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, solution focused, strength based, mindfulness, reminiscience, interactional and environmental strategies. I work to foster my clients finding peace and wellbeing as they adapt to life changes.
