Community-Based Therapy Services
I am a current graduate student studying clinical social work at the University of St. Thomas with an Area of Emphasis in Practice with Immigrants and Refugees. I have four solid years of experience as an employment counselor on the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP), provided mental health services as an Adult Rehabilitated Mental Health Services (ARMHS) worker, a domestic violence specialist focused on crisis interventions along with conducting suicidal assessments.
I have served at-risk, low-income populations from a range of psychological disorders, economic disadvantages, and cultural barriers such as mental health, trauma, and homelessness. I offer excellent communication skills such as utilizing my proficiency in Hmong with crisis intervention with youths and adults. In addition, I utilized motivational interviewing techniques with youths/adults and encouraged them to complete their GED and high school diplomas.
My previous work experience in the retail and restaurant industry has helped me develop well-built organizational skills, time management, and the ability to meet deadlines. I also enjoy being involved in the Hmong community such as volunteering for the MN Hmong Studies Consortium Conference as a volunteer coordinator to help organize the event, making cold calls to interested individuals to volunteer and supervising/assigning tasks to all volunteers during the conference. I enjoy getting to know new faces and I hope our conversations make my clients feel heard and secure.
To expand and improve our care options for clients, ACP offers Telehealth (phone or video) appointments. Telehealth uses phone or video conferencing to connect you with highly qualified and experienced providers in real-time from the comfort and convenience of your own home or office. Before your telehealth appointment, you will receive details for how you will connect with your provider. If you will be connecting via phone, the provider will plan to call you at your scheduled appointment time. Please be ready to take the call and also check that your phone allows calls from blocked numbers (accessible within your phone settings). If you will be connecting via video conference, your provider will email you an invite to join the appointment. Please call our office to learn more about ACP’s telehealth services and to schedule an appointment.
