Geriatric Services

As the role of the older adult changes and their dependence on others increases, the older adult often struggles with being devalued both from within and by others. Transitions and changes at this stage can be especially challenging for themselves, their families and their caregivers. Working as a residential therapist, I help with issues of loss, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues that can arise with placement, and assist the client with developing strategies to adjust to change and coping with chronic illness. Also utilizing my life coaching skills with therapy, we identify the essential of who they are - their core values and passions - and assist them in finding ways to reconnect with this, which gives meaning to their daily lives. I serve as a resource and consultant to the facility staff, helping to identify mental health issues and assist their team with developing strategies that enhance the well-being of their residents.
